Multiple tendon injuriesHello,
Over the past few years I have gradually built up a number of different pains (groin, shoulder, neck, back, wrist, achilles tendon and exercise-induced knee pain). These all developed one by one but none of really gone away so now i am left with a collection of pains that is stopping me playing the sports i love. I have seen a few health professionals with no real joy, but having read Emma's responses on this forum, she really seems to know her stuff so i thought i'd give it a go asking. I have been told I have extremely tight hamstrings and calf muscles, and an imbalance in my upper body where the muscles in my upper back have become weak and the front of my body (pectorals etc) have become tight, causing forward posture of my shoulders. If I was to sort out the tight hamstrings and calves, and sort out my upper body imbalance, do you think this would cure the majority of my different pains?
Thankyou very much in advance!reply|subscribe to post

RE:Multiple tendon injuriesCrumbs that sounds like quite a collection of things!
Muscle imbalance is often blamed for various aches and pains and is indeed a common contributor to sports related pain where dominant fast twitch muscles take over and the slow twitch postural ones need a bit of extra coaching to catch up. However, with the pains that you are describing there can be a lot of contributing factors - like the joint, and the structures surrounding it like capsule and ligaments. Other things like footwear, and leg length discrepancy can also be important. I would need to ask you questions about what your training program is like and what your main sports are.
It sounds like a thorough history, examination and full musculo-skeletal assesment would be a good idea.
I am happy to discuss over the phone, please do give me a call on 9420200
Many thanks,
