Podiatry
Our podiatrist assesses and corrects problems arising from the joints of the feet which may be painful and restrict mobility.

These problems can generally be resolved using exercises, insoles, orthotics and heel wedges.

Leonardo DaVinci called the foot a miracle of natural engineering and it's easy to see why. The foot contains 26 bones, 19 muscles and 107 ligaments. Every year the average person walks 500 miles. Every mile the foot transfers approximately 100 tonnes just moving your own body weight forwards. It isn't hard to see how the feet can develop malfunctions.

What is Podiatry?

Podiatry assesses and corrects problems arrising from the biomechanical function of the feet.  Our podiatrist analyses the mechanical movment of the feet and when necessary, this may include examining the way you walk using a state-of-the-art foot pressure analysis.   Incorrect alignment of the bones of the foot can result in non-specific back, hip, knee and ankle pain.

Podiatry X-Ray used in diagnosis

These tests allow the podiatrist to make an accurate diagnosis and then implement a variety of treatment regimes specifically tailored towards improving the structure and function of the lower limb. The majority of ailments affecting the lower extremities can be treated with prescription insoles called orthotics which are worn in your footwear.
